ow Does The Reputation Of Writers Affect Their Books

A writer is a person who is defined to write about their experiences or are those who weave beautiful stories and excite the readers with their great plot. Reading is loved by millions and many great authors have mastered the art of storytelling.
Before being an author, we must remember that they are humans, and every human has their own set of flaws, not to mention some good qualities as well.
It is observed that a book is bought mostly only if the author has a clear public presence.
Many famous authors have faced a lot of problems due to their views, like Salman Rushdie was shot if you see this is the case of extremism, however, some authors have received a lot of backlash for their work, they are as follows:
J.K. Rowling: Most popularly known as the author of the Harry Potter series. These books are widely loved by people, however, the views of J.K. Rowling are problematic. She is racist, homophobic, and transphobic, this is seen in her works as well.
Roald Dahl: The popular children’s writer behind books like “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and “The Witches,” which is loved by many, however, the author has been racist, antisemitic, and sexist in his novels, along with promoting child suicide.
James Dasher: Author of the “Maze Runner” books, was accused of sexual harassment, manipulation, grooming, and gaslighting.
Jay Asher: He was accused of sexual misconduct and romanticized suicide in his best-selling novel “Thirteen Reasons Why.”
Collen Hoover: A famous Romance novelist whose books were or are loved by many, however, in recent times a case came into light where Collen Hoover’s son was accused of doing something wrong and she supported him, whereas the stories in her books tell different tales and in real life she’s supporting something stark opposite. This is the reason why she has received a lot of backlash in recent times and her sales have drastically decreased.
Many more authors’s views become political quickly. It should be our personal choice to read such authors' words. If we think that our purchasing of the book supports something wrong then we can choose to buy it from small stores so that we are not supporting them directly and this is only if you want to read their books.
Do you think we should judge the book by the author’s reputation?
