NEET UG 2024: A Scam That Shattered The Dreams Of Thousands Of Students!

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for Undergraduate (UG) courses has been at the center of a raging controversy in 2024. The exam, held on May 5, 2024, was marred by allegations of a question paper leak, sparking widespread outrage and concerns about the fairness and integrity of the examination process.

The controversy began when several candidates and coaching centers alleged that the NEET UG question paper had been leaked, giving some students an unfair advantage. The allegations were further fueled by social media posts and videos showing students with access to the question paper before the exam.

The matter reached the Supreme Court, with multiple petitions filed seeking the cancellation of the exam and a re-test. However, the Centre opposed the cancellation, arguing that it would jeopardize the future of lakhs of honest candidates and that there was no proof of a large-scale breach of confidentiality.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the NEET exam, also opposed the cancellation, stating that the alleged malpractices were confined to a small number of candidates and did not warrant a re-test. On July 23, the Supreme Court ruled that there were no systemic breaches in the examination process and refused to cancel the exam or order a re-test.

The write-up above is about the NEET UG 2024 SCAM which created a huge controversy and took over most of our news in these few months. Earlier 67 students scored full marks due to the paper leak which dropped the rank of other students who scored good marks. Many students work day and night to pass the NEET exam and pursue medicine. Due to the paper leak the integrity of the exam was compromised.

This scam raised some serious questions amongst all Indians and those questions are:

  1. Is this the future of India?

  2. Can we even trust the results of our competitive exams?

  3. Do we also want our children to face the same issue?

Even though these questions were raised and many people posted about this on social media, the NTA did not do a lot to improve the situation. Although the results were revised it did not do much good to the students. There are so many cases in which students who come from a financially weaker background worked day and night to gain results, their parents sold their land or took loans just to fund their kids' education so that their kids can become someone and make their parents proud. Now due to this scam, most of the students' ranks dropped and they will not be able to be admitted to government colleges increasing the financial burden on their families as they will have to take admission to private colleges.

This makes me question the integrity of the NEET examination and any other competitive examination. NEET is one of the toughest examinations to crack for medical aspirants. The students who studied hard and did not be a part of the paper leak their future was the most jeopardized. Due to this scam, every process is delayed putting the future of the students in danger. This scam is fresh now but later when these students want to take admission this scam will not be considered, it will all be the mistake of the students. In this, the mental health of the students is also ignored.

Will the government take action or the citizens?
